“Think Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk |

|
Breast Cancer Awareness
The deadline for the registration forms is October 10. It is $10 to register before the deadline, but $12 after that or if you register the day of the walk. This money helps pay for the food and your t-shirt.
*They will not allow SWE to register as a group so everyone who wants to participate will have to register separately.
Visit the following websites for more information: EAMC Foundation | Opelika Main Street | City of Opelika
You will arrive at Railroad Avenue starting at 8:30 am where you sign in, pick up your breast cancer awareness t-shirt, and eat breakfast (it is provided there). The one mile walk begins at 9:30 am. It ends back at the registration area where snacks and drinks will then be provided. There will be speakers and other activities lasting until 12:00 pm.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day |
|
Local Seventh and Eighth Grade Girls
We will speak to the 7th and 8th grade girls at Sanford Middle School. This will be an after school activity for them, so we will be there sometime around 2:30pm – 4:00pm. We will speak to them about engineering and also give them some hands-on experiments. We will divide the girls into groups and have three activities. We will do a Lego structure building contest, a hydrogen fuel cell car demonstration, and a “Soil Magic” demo. We will also have little giveaway bags for them with goodies like pens, pamphlets, t-shirts, etc. The Opelika-Auburn News and WTVM will be covering this event, so be sure to attend!
We plan on meeting around 1:45 and leaving for SMS (a 30 min drive). Contact Jessie Stubbs before this event for details
