Article I. Name

The name of the organization shall be Turkish Student Organization.

Article II. Purpose

The purposes of this organization shall be to promote the Turkish Culture, art, history, and to organize activities to bring together the Turkish community of Auburn University. This is a non-profit organization.

Article III. Membership

This organization does not discriminate against any person or organization on basis of race, creed, sex, age, national origin, or handicap. The membership of this organization shall consist of undergraduate, graduate students, faculty, staff, and their families. Turkish Student Organization also welcomes other who are interested in Turkish Culture.

Article IV. Offices

Officers : The officers of this organization shall be a president, a vice president for Administration, a vice president for Public Relation, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Social Event Committee.

Qualifications : The president shall be a student who has broad knowledge of Turkish Culture. There are no predetermined qualifications for the other offices.

Selection and Term of Offices: The officers shall be elected for a term of one year. Officers who complete their term shall be reelected or replaced among the qualified nominees. The selection of advisor (Faculty/staff) shall also be conducted at this annual meeting in January. A majority of 2/3 members vote is required for election of the officers and the advisor.

Article V. Officers and Duties

President shall represent the organization in all events and/or assign committees for upcoming events, and shall obtain the communication between the organization and the other university organizations. Vice president for administration help president in her/his administrative duties and fill in for president in her/his absence.

Vice president of public relations shall help the president in her/his public duties.

Secretary shall prepare and keep meeting records, legal documents, and any other document needed by the organization.

Treasurer shall raise funds for the activities of the organization and collect membership fees.

Social event committee shall help the president to organize social activities and to provide place and material for the activities.

The advisor shall keep the archives of the organization, notify officers after elections, and general guidance to the organization.

Article VI. Amendments

This constitution may be amended by a 2/3 vote of the members.

Article VII. Membership Dues

$40.00 membership fee from faculty/stuff and a $15.00 membership fee from student members shall be collected yearly
