Laura grew up in Trussville, Alabama and began dancing shortly after she began walking. Begining in first grade, she took tap, jazz, and ballet classes for ten years, during which her love of music and dance only grew. Exposure to other styles of dance, including the Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha Cha, Clogging, and the Carolina Shag increased her interest, even though she mostly only remembers the basics of them now.
She began attending lessons when she enrolled at Auburn in the fall of 2002. She began teaching lessons in the summer of 2003. She graduated Auburn University in the spring of 2006 with a degree in German and now teaches at Parkway Baptist Preschool. She remains active in the Auburn swing dance scene and is, in fact, married to the faculty advisor. She's attended workshops and dances in other towns, such as: AVS, ATLX, Hot Jam, and GA Tech dances in Atlanta, Lindy Focus in Ashville, NC, and the Jam Cellar in Washington DC. She's always looking for new opportunities to learn and become a better dancer. Dancing is a wonderful and dynamic expression of yourself and no dance, even with the same partner and music, is the same each time. She desires to teach others how to be better partners to each other and enjoy dancing more and more.
