Why
did you choose Auburn?
I choose AU because I had heard so
many good things about it. When I actually came to visit, I loved
the campus and it felt like a home away from home! - Laura Lehman,

I never really had a choice of where I wanted to go
to college. I grew up coming to Auburn football games because thats
where my dad, two granddads, a grandmother and an uncle had all gone.
And being from Tuscaloosa, I really wanted to get away and not deal
with high school all over again, because of a graduating class of
220 it felt like 200 were going to Alabama. It basically comes down
to me wanting to branch out and try something different, but at the
same time just following a "family tradition." - Mike Smith,

I chose Auburn to get away from home
but making sure i wasnt to for away. Auburn University has a great
campus and the city itself is growing rapidly. With the many scholarships
and program info i recieved as a senior in high school really helped
me make my decision. So Kudos to AU....WAR EAGLE, I'm a TIGER for
LIFE!!! - Leona Smith, 2008 Parent Counselor |

My whole family, including my grandparents,
came to Auburn. I grew up a die-hard Auburn fan. However, my senior
year, I decided I was going to be the rebel of the family and was
going to go to the University of Alabama. I went to one football game
there and sat in the student section. The atmosphere just was not
the same as an Auburn game and I found myself cheering for the other
team. Afterwards, I sent my dad a text message saying I feel like
I had cheated on Auburn and I know for sure where I will be spending
my next four or so years. I never realized how unique the Auburn family
was until I visited another school. Appropriately, I chose to come
to Auburn and have loved every second of it. - Kelli Ledbetter, 2008

What's your favorite Auburn tradition & why?
My favorite Auburn tradition would
have to be rolling Toomer's Corner. Seeing toilet paper strewn all
over the trees is always a great sight, especially after we beat
Alabama. Besides, where else in America can you go toilet-papering
and not have it be a crime? -Jeff Mustin, 2008 Parent Counselor |

My favorite AU tradition is the time after every home
football game when the students join together to sing the Alma Mater
in unison. This is the unity of the Auburn family in practice. It
really shows the love and respect that students have toward the university
and its high ideals. - Richard Ketcham, 2008 Parent Counselor |
My favorite Auburn tradition would
be rolling Toomer's Corner after any Auburn team or organization
has been victorious. This is my favorite tradition because it shows
the true unity, pride and school spirit of the Auburn University
family. -Kristi Megahee, 2008 Parent Counselor |

My favorite tradition has to be the classic "War
Eagle" moment. I've been to Italy, Ireland, England, and France
and on every occasion I've seen someone with an Auburn shirt and yelled
"War Eagle" to them, or someone has seen me with an Auburn
shirt on and they have yelled "War Eagle" to me. This just
proves that the Auburn Family is with you wherever you are, no matter
who you are. - Daniel McCarty, 2008 Parent Counselor |
My favorite AU tradition is the eagle
flying at the beginning of the football game. This awesome experience
is unique to Auburn and is truly indescribable. It unifies the Auburn
family and prepares fans for an awesome game in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

I would have to say my favorite Auburn Tradition is
beating the University of Alabama. (six years counts as tradition
right) Every year i am humored by Alabama's efforts, such as hiring
a new coach, paying unheard of amounts of money, and yes, even recruiting
suspect character athletes, to try to beat the tigers and break the
tradition. - Matt Layton, 2008 Parent Counselor |
Without a doubt, my favorite Auburn
tradition is when the eagle flies before every football game and
when the band first comes out of the tunnel playing the fight song.
I have been to over twenty Auburn football games and I still get
chills and a huge smile goes across my face. At this moment you
truly see the Auburn family and I LOVE IT!!!! -Kaitlin Byrne, 2008

My favorite Auburn tradition is Hey Day. I just love
the fact that there is a day where everyone just says hello to each
other. It just shows what the Auburn spirit is all about and exhibits
how we really are an Auburn family. - Nikki Allen, 2008 Parent Counselor |
If you could take a new parent anywhere on campus, where
would it by & why?
If I could take a parent anywhere
on campus, it would be to the Eagles' Nest. I would have never said
it before because it's so cliche, but I recently got to experience
it for myself and it literally took my breath away. Considering
that it can only be accessed by a select few, it is definitely a
place to take a parent, student, friend, or everyone! It was an
experience of a lifetime and I felt on top of the world...well,
on top of Auburn anyway! "Be still my heart..." -Porshia

If I could take a new parent anywhere on campus, it
would have to be the back steps of Cater Hall. There is a great tradition
that occurs here overlooking the quad---callouts. Having been on both
sides of callouts, it is one of the more remarkable Auburn traditions.
Standing on those steps looking down is indescribable. I would definitely
take a parent there to soak up the Auburn spirit. War Eagle! - Tom

If I could
take a new parent anywhere on campus it would be to the dorm room
on a random weekday night. I know, weird choice, but I think parents
worry about whether their child will find friends, fit in, and be
happy, and some of my favorite memories are from sitting around
talking about nothing and laughing with, what have become, my best
friends. It is times like these that make me love Auburn and, unfortunately,
these types of activities can not be seen, but must be experienced.

If i could take a parent anywhere on campus, Iwould
take them to the back of Cater Hall. I would want them to sit in the
swings and enjoy the view. From there you can see the stadium and
all the students walking around outside. It is the most beautiful
part of campus to me and I would want to share that with a parent.

What was your favorite moment as a freshman?
My favorite moment as a freshman was
going to my first saturday home football game. You can honestly
get a taste of what the whole Auburn experience is about just by
tailgating with friends, supporting the players at tigerwalk, cheering
at the game with the other 87,451 fans, and ending your night by
rollling Toomer's Corner after an Auburn victory. It's truly AMAZING!

As a freshman, my favorite moment was my first football
game. It was my first Auburn game EVER and I will honestly never forget
the feeling that rushed over me when I saw the eagle fly around the
stadium. Its a feeling that will stick with me forever. - Melissa Fisher,

My favorite moment as a freshman was
sitting in the Haley Center with my best friend every Tuesday and
Thursday morning after class during my first semester at Auburn.
It does not sound all that exciting but, I found my best friend
and learned a lot about what I wanted to do and who I wanted to
be at Auburn. In my book, it is all the small moments that find
a big place in your heart! War Eagle! - Caitlin Clark, 2008 Parent
