The Tiger Cub, Auburn University’s student planner and online handbook, contains information pertaining to student organizations, activities, academic rules (TheCode of Student Discipline), and other information aimed a helping students to adjust to college life. Distributed at orientation for new students and at the Auburn University Bookstore, it is used as a reference guide throughout a student’s school career. The editor is chosen during spring semester by the Student Communications Board. The student planner and online handbook is printed in May of each year, and is available for Camp War Eagle sessions in the summer. Students interested in helping with the Tiger Cub to gain journalistic and publishing experience may stop by the office in the Student Media Suite on the first floor in the Student Center.
Athletic Event Alcohol Policy
Effective August 16, 2005, individuals caught entering an athletic event in possession of and/or concealing alcohol will have their ticket privileges revoked for that game and will not be permitted to enter the event. Individuals visibly intoxicated also will not be permitted to enter the event. Those individuals caught consuming alcohol or having possession of alcohol inside the event will have their ticket privileges revoked and will be removed from the event. Students in violation of the alcohol policy will be reported to the Vice President of Student Affairs for possible disciplinary action and/or counseling.
1. Students caught violating the alcohol policy on a second occasion will be referred to the Vice President of Student Affairs for disciplinary action and/or counseling and will have their season ticket privileges revoked for the year.
2. Students caught violating the alcohol policy on a third occasion will have their season ticket privileges revoked permanently and will again face disciplinary action and/or counseling by the Vice President of Student Affairs.
Note: In all cases, individuals visibly intoxicated and/or those under 21 years of age found in possession of alcohol may be subject to arrest and criminal action by law enforcement officials under Alabama State Law.
A disciplinary action arising from this policy can be appealed in writing to the Vice President of Student Affairs within five class days following the student's receipt of written notification of the disciplinary action.
Policy of Parent Notification of Alcohol and Drug Incidents
Effective Fall 2008
In an effort to more fully involve parents in critical issues impacting students, Auburn University will apply the following policy to notify parents or guardians of students involved in alcohol and drug incidents.
1. If a registered student under the of Alabama State Law for public intoxication, the possession, consumption or distribution of alcohol or illicit drugs, the student’s parents or guardian will be notified in writing of the incident by the Vice President of Student Affairs.
2. If a registered student is transported to an emergency medical treatment facility for drug use or alcohol intoxication, the student’s parents or guardians or other appropriate parties may be notified by the Vice President of Student Affairs or other University administrators if knowledge is necessary to protect the safety of the student or other individuals.
