Greek Life Recruitment 2014
The Greek system is the largest network of volunteers in the US, with members donating over 10 million hours of volunteer service each year and monetary values in the billions. 70% of all those who join a fraternity/sorority graduate in five years or less, while less than 50% of all non-Greek students graduate in that time period.
Panhellenic recruitment begins on Aug. 10, 2014, consisting of several different rounds and ends on Bid Day Aug. 16. Auburn University Panhellenic is comprised of 17 sororities each with over 200 members. Registration begins on June 2 and is open to all women enrolled at Auburn University.
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) includes 30 national fraternities and consists of summer recruitment and formal recruitment (August). Summer recruitment is various events held by individual chapters in or around the Auburn area. Some activities to expect are trips to a baseball game, a day at Lake Martin or a barbecue at the fraternity’s house. Not all men will choose to participate in summer recruitment. IFC formal recruitment includes is several nights of visiting various fraternities and speaking with the members of the chapter.
National Pan-hellenic Council
The National Pan-hellenic Council (NPHC) is also represented on Auburn’s campus with seven fraternities and sororities. Each organization holds its recruitment differently, but at the beginning of each semester a Meet the Greeks is held for interested persons to learn about all of the NPHC fraternities and sororities.
