The Division of Student Affairs supports and encourages the ongoing professional and personal development of all employees.
Professional Development Work Group
The mission of the Professional Development Work Group (PDWG) is to build a comprehensive professional development plan for staff members, including undergraduate and graduate students, in the Division of Student Affairs.
Professional Development Programs
Coffee with the Division
The first Wednesday of every month, the Division of Student Affairs hosts a coffee for all staff members. This time is used as an opportunity to introduce new employees, share announcements, and give kudos to other staff members for their hard work in their respective departments. Coffee with the Division also allows staff members from different areas of campus to network with one another to build stronger professional relationships.
The Spring Summit celebrates the accomplishments of the Division of Student Affairs from the previous year. The summit provides an opportunity for staff members to participate in team building activities, energizers, as well as an opportunity to reflect on their accomplishments. The Spring Summit culminates in a division-wide picnic.
The Professional Development Workgroup strongly believes in recognizing staff members for their accomplishments both in and out of the office. Awards are presented throughout the year at various events. Staff members also have the opportunity to send “thankful” notes to their co-workers during the Thanksgiving season, as well as highlight “eggcelent” work in the Spring.
Administrative Professionals Day
Each April, the Division of Student Affairs celebrates Administrative Professionals Day honoring the many individuals who serve as Administrative Professionals.
Placement for Graduate Students
Placement for Graduate Assistants is designed to help graduate students find assistantships within the Division of Student Affairs and other Student Support Services. This event allows potential graduate assistants the opportunity to learn about Auburn University and position openings for the 2014-2015 academic year.
The Holiday Summit takes place each December and includes a holiday meal and team building activities. Division members join together before leaving for the Winter Break to socialize and discuss the year in review.
The Career Center and the Division of Student Affairs have partnered to create a unique experience for student employees in the Division of Student Affairs. The PRO Students program is a professional readiness opportunity for students to enhance the skills they will learn working on campus by participating in additional learning experiences. Students participate in workshops designed to enhance their communication skills, leadership abilities and personal development. In addition, they develop a professional resume and a LinkedIn profile.
