The 11th Annual Flapjack Fest is coming up on Wednesday! If you don't recall what Flapjack Fest is, it is an all you can eat pancake dinner sponsored by Camp War Eagle that benefits the Ryan Chandler Memorial Endowment Fund. Ryan Chandler was a Camp Counselor in 1995 who tragically passed away in 1999. Since 2000, Camp War Eagle has sponsored Flapjack Fest to raise money for the endowment fund named after him. Flapjack Fest has contributed nearly $50,000 to this fund over the last ten years.
Flapjack Fest will be held in the AU Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday, March 10 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to the dinner, there is also a silent auction with many different items to bid on including Auburn jewelry, art, athletic tickets and memorabilia and much more.
Tickets for Flapjack Fest are available for the bargain price of $5. We are only able to accept CASH, no checks.
If you would like a ticket, there are three ways to get one. The first is to walk to the Concourse next week and purchase one from the Camp Counselors working a Flapjack Fest table. The table will be set up Monday-Wednesday from 9 a.m, to 1 p.m. The second way is to just buy it at the door on Wednesday night. The third way is available only to special people like you. If you want a ticket(s) delivered to your office, let Mark Armstrong know, and he will have a Camp Counselor arrange to bring your ticket(s) to your office and pick up the money (CASH PLEASE). Obviously this has to happen before Wednesday, so let Mark Armstrong know ASAP. Call 844-4501 or e-mail armstm2@auburn.edu
Thanks to everyone and we hope to see you on Wednesday night.
The Division of Student Affairs invites you to attend the monthly Student Affairs Speakers Series, which will be held Thursday, March 11 at 12:00–1:00 p.m. in AUSC 2222. The topic is “Marketing Your Graduate Assistantship/Graduate Teaching Assistantship on Your Resume."
Katie Mantooth, Career Development Services, will deliver this presentation, which will empower attendees with strategies to first identify their tasks completed on the job and then turn those into the skills they offer a future employer as well as identify outcomes, successes and goals met and exceeded. Attendees will also learn how to navigate a job description to discern what should and should not be discussed in a cover letter/resume.
The Speakers Series is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs Professional Development Work Group and will occur the second Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon. The mission of the Professional Development Work Group is to build a comprehensive professional development plan for the Division of Student Affairs staff members. One component of that plan is the Speaker Series. The goal of the Speaker Series is to provide a regular and recurring forum to share information and knowledge. If you are interested in being a featured speaker, please contact Jamie Mantooth at MANTOOTH@auburn.edu to receive a Call for Programs.
On Monday, March 22, from 8:15 until 9:00 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom, the Division of Student Affairs will host a kickoff event for the 2010 Faculty/Staff campaign. Coffee and danishes will be provided. ALL staff members are invited and encouraged to attend. Please plan to attend and learn about the goals of the campaign and its importance to Auburn University, our Division, and most importantly, our students.
