UPC was awarded the Board of Excellence Award at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) South Regional Conference. This award recognizes the best activities boards in the NACA South Region. There were three award categories based on the size of a school's programming budget. Auburn was in the $325,000 and above category. The award process was split into two stages. The first stage consisted of a written application and supporting materials. Finalists were then asked to prepare a 30-minute oral presentation to be presented before a panel of judges on site at the fall conference in Winston-Salem, NC.

A limited number of t-shirts will be t-shirts will be available to tie dye. Participants can also tie dye their Hey Day shirt or other items if brought to the workshop.
Paul Kittle, Director of Greek Life, attended the National Hazing Symposium at the University of Maine, from October 1-2, 2009. The symposium was a think-tank style gathering of national hazing prevention researchers and student affairs practitioners. The goal of the symposium was to establish a draft national research agenda for hazing prevention. The event was sponsored by hazingprevention.org and the National Hazing Collaborative.
The Auburn University Interfraternity Council will sponsor national hazing prevention speaker, Rick Barnes, on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center. The event will be focused towards new members of fraternities, presidents, and new member educators. This hazing education/awareness convocation is the second one that the Auburn University IFC has hosted this semester.
The Graduate and Professional School Fair offers students the opportunity to learn more about the graduate and professional programs that are available at Auburn University. It takes place on Wednesday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Center. Go to www.auburn.edu/career for more information or call 844.4744 with any questions.
This year’s Hey Day events will be taking place on Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme this year is Peace, Love, Hey Day. There will be tie-dyeing t-shirts at the UPC Tie-Dye Workshop, and name tag tables will be set up across campus. The main locations will be the science concourse near Parker Hall, the Student Center patio, and the Haley Center concourse. Students and faculty are encouraged to fill out a name tag and say “hey” to fellow classmates.
Free food and drinks will be available, along with live entertainment from the Tiger Paws, AU Rhythm, and Auburn University Cheerleaders. Miss Auburn, Miss Auburn University and Aubie will all be in attendance. Dating back to World War II, Hey Day is one of the longest standing Auburn traditions. Come out and celebrate friendships and keep this tradition alive.
The International Student Organization will be hosting its annual Peace Dinner this Monday, October 5 at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Please come and enjoy free food and entertainment presented by various international student associations. Countries represented will be China, India, Nigeria, Turkey, Bangledesh and Japan. This event is co-sponsored by SGA, Chartwell's, ISL, and the Division of Student Affairs.
Budget Change Orders "BCO" should be completed next week to put the 2009 -2010 fiscal year funds in your account.
The selection process for the 2010 Camp War Counselors has begun. Applications are available at the Camp War Eagle office and online at www.auburn.edu/cwe and will be accepted until noon on Friday, October 23, 2009. Information sessions for interested students are on the following dates:

A series of four interactive seminars to promote the development of an institutional and individual "culture of engagement" will be offered by the Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning and the Office of Access and Community Initiatives in the Office of University Outreach. A Certificate of Engaged Scholarship will be awarded by the Office of University Outreach for participation in all four Colloquia seminars. Seating is limited.
