The Auburn University Chapter of SIAM will be hosting an Apple Technology Briefing: "Mac OS X s Unix Roots and Current Tools".

Guest speaker, Steve Hayman from Apple Computer, will provide an overview of the command line, compilers, scripting environments, open source tools, etc., and hint at how these may be used for scientific computing.

An example of how to embedd a PDF image into a PDF document generated from TeX source and how to link a PDF document to an AVI movie file (and view the movie within the PDF reader if supported on the platform; works with Mac OS, and Win XX, does not work on a Sun, and untested on Linux).
