Welcome to the home of Auburn University's Elections Board! According to Title VII of the Student Government Association Code of Laws, the Elections Board shall preside over the Elections process and govern all judicial functions thereof. Along with the Elections Directorate, it is our mission to ensure that all parties involved in the Elections Process adhere to the rules and regulations of the SGA Code of Laws in order to guarantee a fair and efficient Election Process.
2010 Spring Elections: Declarations of Intent
The Elections Directorate would like to remind all prospective Major
and Minor Candidates that Declarations of Intent to run in the 2010 SGA
Spring Elections are due by 4:00 PM on Monday, November 16. Forms are
available in the Candidate Campaign packets and should be turned in to
the mailbox of the Secretary of Political Affairs in the SGA Office
(Student Center Suite 3130) by November 16.
Miss Auburn
Callouts for the Top 20 Miss Auburn nominees will take place on the
back steps of Cater Hall at 10:00 PM on Monday, November 9. After a
second round of interviews, the Top 5 Miss Auburn nominees will be
announced on the back steps of Cater Hall at 10:00 PM on Tuesday,
November 10.
Miss Homecoming 2009 - Christian Becraft
The Elections Board and the Elections Directorate would like to
congratulate Christian Becraft, who was voted Miss Homecoming 2009 by
the Auburn University student body. Becraft, a senior majoring in
journalism from Huntsville, Alabama, was named Miss Homecoming during
the half-time ceremony of the Homecoming game on November 7
Senate Reapportionment for the 2010 Spring Elections:
Senate seats were reapportioned by the SGA Senate on Monday, November
2, 2009, in order to more accurately reflect the changing number of
students in each school and college at Auburn University. Apportionment
is based on Fall 2009 enrollment.The changes were applied to the
following colleges:
-The College of Business loses one senate seat for a total of 4
available senate seats in 2010
-The College of Engineering gains one senate seat for a total of 5
available senate seats in 2010
-The College of Liberal Arts loses one senate seat for a total of 5
available senate seats in 2010
-The College of Sciences and Mathematics gains one senate seat for a
total of 4 available senate seats in 2010
Violations of Election Law:
If you witness a violation of Election Law during Formal Campaign Week,
please fill out a Violation Form and turn it in to the Secretary of
Political Affairs' mailbox in the SGA Office (Suite 3130, AU Student
Center). You may e-mail Clay Parker (parkejc@auburn.edu) with any
questions concerning Election Law.
Recent Changes Made to Election Law:
The SGA Senate recently passed twenty-eight changes to Title VII of the Code of Laws. These changes were presented by Clay Parker, Secretary of Political Affairs, in order to provide for a more reasonable and efficient Elections Process. The changes were passed unanimously by the Senate on September 14, 2009. Click here to view these changes in bill format.
