Why Sigma Chi
There are so many advantages to be derived from membership in a college fraternity.  The years you spend at Auburn University will be a time to shape and mold your life.  The decisions you make while in school will be ones that will affect the rest of your life, and so will the friends you make. Joining a fraternity is a great way to improve your life through scholarship, leadership, and fellowship.  The Sigma Chi Fraternity is no exception to these truths.

Founded at Miami University of Ohio in June of 1855, Sigma Chi is one of the oldest college fraternities in the nation.  Started byseven determined young men, we have grown to over two-hundred undergraduate chapters and over 205,000 initiated members, many who have lived on to make large contributions to society and to become leaders in all aspects of life.

The Gamma Sigma chapter of Sigma Chi here at Auburn University has also made its mark on the university's campus.  As one of the first fraternities established at Auburn, we have excelled in scholarship and leadership with brothers involved in almost every
organization and honorary at the school.  Despite our success in these areas, we believe our greatest asset is our strong brotherhood. The Gamma Sigma Chapter is a diverse group of students from all over the country, and we take pride in the common bond that we share with each other without trying to change the individuality we all posses.  Brotherhood is a large responsibility that can be tough at times, but one that is priceless to the growth of one's character.

Scholarship
The Brothers of Sigma Chi are proud of our long-standing tradition of academic achievement.  Nationally our fraternity has the most extensive education foundation with assets in excess of $7 million.  The foundation awards over $250,000 in scholarship grants to deserving undergraduates and allocates funds to individual chapters for scholarship awards each year.  There is also over $6,000 that the alumni of our chapter Gamma Sigma donates to undergraduate scholarships.  Through study hall programs, in-house tutoring, the banquet, and cash awards, our brothers are encouraged to do their best.  The Chapter as a whole promotes above average members and pledges academic achievement.  Our scholarship chairman oversees our academic programs by creating and maintaining an environment conducive to scholarship achievement among brothers and pledges.

Campus Involvement
The brothers here at Sigma Chi take pride in our unique balance of both academics and social activities.  Another important factor in that equation is campus involvement.  Members of our chapter are involved in countless organizations here at Auburn University.  We currently have brothers who have positions in Inter-fraternity Council, Athletics, Student Government Association, and many other professional and academic honoraries.  Sigma Chi believes that taking leadership roles on campus will help improve our university as well as our fraternity.

Why Rush Sigma Chi
Many fraternities are similar, and you may wonder what is different about Sigma Chi. While initiation, dues, athletics, social events andcommunity service are all a part of Sigma Chi, its high ideals, strong brotherhood and broader meaning distinguish it from its peers. It is a continuous learning  experience that begins during pledgeship and lasts a lifetime. Sigma Chi encourages interaction among men of different temperaments, talents and convictions; developes social skills; promotes leadership development; cultivates personal growth and responsibility. Sigma Chi is one of the oldest and most prestigious fraternities. With 229 chaptersin the United States and Canada, and over 233,000 initiated members it is also one of the largest in the world.
