Congratulations to our flag football team as they won their division this year and moved into the overall championship where they suffered a lost in the semi-finals to the eventual champions, Pike.

The season started off with an easy 27-6 win against Delta Chi Fraternity. The following week, we faced a tougher Alpha Phi Alpha team and prevailed 18-12 in the final minutes.  After moving to 2-0, the team mercy ruled an outmatched Alpha Kappa Lambda team, 41-0, to clinch their first playoff berth in some time. And, in the final game of the regular season against Kappa Sigma, the team started slow and finished strong, but the effort fell short as they suffered a 28-26 loss by the way of a missed 2-point conversion.

It was playoff time and we found ourselves matched against Alpha Tau Omega, the defending division champions.  With their experience, coaches and playbooks in their favor, all odds were against us. That wouldn’t stop our team. We started off slow again, but went into halftime down one. After trading scores we entered the fourth still trailing. With two minutes remaining and the ball in our hands the game winning drive was in our hands. With thirty seconds left quarterback, Mack Shoen, found Joe Huhn in the end zone to take the lead and a chance to compete in the division championships.

We faced Theta Chi in the championship game, a common sports rival for us in the past couple of years.  Again, a slow start found us trailing at halftime, this time by a touchdown. In the third we were able to score back to back and go into the fourth up by five. Theta Chi quickly answered to take the lead 22-20. Once again, our team drove down and scored, then made an interception in the final seconds to seal the 26-22 victory and take home our first Division Championship game since 2000.

After the division game was won we moved into the final bracket where we faced an undefeated Pi Kappa Alpha team. However, after a 21-0 deficit in the first half, we managed to only put up 12 in the second half to take the defeat. Next year we return our whole roster and look forward to making another great run.
