What's New On Campus
Auburn University Student Center
After a grand opening in 2008, the Auburn University Student Center remains a thriving location. It offers many services to enhance the development of students while standing as a key feature to campus. Whether a student, faculty member, or member of the community, the Student Center functions as a very helpful place. Choose from several dining venues, catering services, or even ask any question at the James E. Foy Information Desk. This safe and beautiful facility is the place for anyone.
Shelby Center for Engineering Technology
The Shelby Center for Engineering and Technology began construction in 2008 and is a facility of the largest college on campus, the College of Engineering. This elaborate complex provides many features such as a central courtyard, a 150-seat auditorium, classrooms, an aerospace lab, and students study areas as well. There are also large computer labs that assist students from across campus. Another great feature, a hospitality lounge, will be used for academic and alumni purposes.
The Village University Dorms
The Village Community, consisting of eight residence halls, offers coed housing as well as housing for social sororities and Honors College. The units are “super suites“, most of them shared by four students. There’s no need to worry about bills, and all furniture is provided as well. There is a dining hall in the area as well. The Village Community is in walking distance to Jordan-Hare Stadium and neighbors the new athletic facility scheduled to open prior to the 2010-11 season.
Auburn University Basketball Arena
Auburn University’s new basketball arena is more than remarkable. Scheduled to open for the 2010-11 season, be prepared for amazement. 29,000 square feet will be filled with an Athletic Ticket Office, AU Team Store, and the Lovelace Museum. Due to a two-court practice facility, men’s and women’s teams will be able to practice at the same time as another event takes place in the arena. Private entrance, food courts, and court side seating will be available for students. Lookout for concerts, banquets, and other community gatherings.
