Alpha Delta Pi's national philanthropy is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Beta Omega chapter specifically serves the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus, Georgia where we help the Ronald McDonald House Incorporation provide a "home away from home" for families of hospitalized children or those undergoing outpatient treatment in the Columbus-Phoenix City area. In our House, parents can break away from the hospital environment, have the support of other families, and ease some of the stress associated with their child's illness. It is a place where families can feel at home, cook their meals, watch TV, read, do their laundry, and enjoy the comfort of a warm and friendly environment.

This year, we have several events that we are excited about that will help the Ronald McDonald House Charities as well as other volunteering opportunities. We have already begun a monthly contest between the girls in Alpha Delta Pi to collect pop tabs that we can cash for the House, that way it can use the money to pay bills and attend to other such financial needs. Additionally, we are planning other events such as a silent auction and a bicycling race. We hope the cycling race will involve cyclists from the community as well as Auburn students. All proceeds from these events will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The Rolling Plains Bike Ride

On October 10th, Alpha Delta Pi hosted our biggest philanthropy event of the year. Kinnuncan's of Auburn and Alpha Delta Pi held the first annual Rolling Plains Bike Ride benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. There were about 230 bikers who participated in this event. The riders consisted of both students and residents from around the Auburn community. At the Bike Ride, riders participated either in the metric century which was 62 miles or a collegiate ride which was 15 miles. The course took riders through the Auburn and Lee County areas, up and down the beautiful rolling plains with scenic views. Most of the course consisted of country roads away from heavily trafficked areas. Alpha Delta Pi won in the college division and also raised $6,542 before expenses. This money goes to our international philanthropy, the Ronald Mcdonald House.
Other ways we gave to our philanthropy and helped the community were by collecting pop tops on a regular basis which helped to pay for guests to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. And in the spring of 2004, Beta Omega put on a silent auction during parents weekend which all proceeds benefited the Ronald McDonald House. We also participated in the Beat Bama Food Drive and sent holiday cards to soldiers overseas.

On Auburn’s Homecoming weekend, September 25th, 2005, Alpha Delta Pi and Kinnucan’s hosted the Second Annual Rolling Plains Bike Ride benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
This event was a HUGE success for Alpha Delta Pi. In only its second year, this philanthropy event quadrupled its participation and funds received and raised. Over 500 people signed up to ride in the event, and Alpha Delta Pi raised over $15,000!!! At the Rolling Plains Bike Ride, elite riders chose to ride the metric century 62-mile ride, while more leisure riders rode the 12-mile Collegiate Ride. Both courses took riders through the Auburn and Lee County areas, up and down the beautiful rolling plains of Central Alabama, and away from heavily-trafficked areas. The event offered riders door prizes as well as awards for age category winners. The Rolling Plains Bike Ride Cup was awarded to the winners in the sorority and fraternity divisions as well.
All of the money raised was donated to ADPi’s local Ronald McDonald House in Columbus, GA.
