The Office
of Sustainability at Auburn University
To educate about sustainability, to promote sustainable practices
both on and off campus, and to provide resources and support for
people who wish to incorporate sustainable practices into their
work and life.

The
AU Recycling Program was established in 2005 by the Auburn
University Facilities Division and Sustainability Initiative.
Our mission is to encourage and expand recycling, waste diversion
and reuse programs and promote efforts to decrease the amount of waste
produced on campus in order to reduce the amount of waste in our local
landfill.
To meet this
goal, recycling programs have been initiated in university buildings,
athletic events and residential housing on campus.

Alabama Water
Watch (AWW) educates citizens about water issues in Alabama
and the world. It promotes citizen volunteer water monitoring and
personal involvement in watershed stewardship through environmental
education, protection and restoration, and advocacy.

The Food
Bank of East Alabama is a not-for-profit distribution center
working to feed hungry people. The Food Bank is committed to efficiently
distributing donated and purchased food through qualified agencies
such as soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters, emergency food
pantries and community centers.
Through product
donations from retailers and manufacturers as well as local donations
from the community, the Food Bank provides a safe, convenient and
reliable way to channel food to hungry people.

Alabama Grassroots
Clearinghouse
The main purpose
of this site is to serve as a directory of citizen groups operating
within Alabama formed out of concern for natural resource and environmental
issues.

Greenpeace,
international environmental organization dedicated to preserving
the earth's natural resources and its diverse plant and animal
life. The organization campaigns against nuclear weapons testing,
environmental pollution, and destructive practices in fishing,
logging, and other industries.
Greenpeace was founded in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada,
in 1971 by members of the Don't Make a Wave Committee, a small
group opposed to nuclear weapons testing by the United States
military in Alaska. The group renamed itself Greenpeace to reflect
the broader goal of creating a green and peaceful world.

Fund
For more than 45 years, WWF has been protecting the future of
nature. The largest multinational conservation organization in
the world, WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by 1.2
million members in the United States and close to 5 million globally.
WWF's unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation
in science, involves action at every level from local to global,
and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the
needs of both people and nature.

Club, organization dedicated to protecting the natural environment
and wildlife in the United States and throughout the world. The
group educates people on how to conserve the earths ecosystems
and resources to prevent wastefulness or destruction; lobbies
for more legislation to preserve the environment; organizes conservation
programs and hiking trips in many countries; and publishes books,
calendars, and Sierra, a bimonthly magazine
