R.A.T. Activities Schedule and Final Thoughts

posted August 3, 2015

WAR EAGLE! This is Hannah bringing you the fifth and FINAL blog post of the summer! You know what that means…preseason camp is only a few short days away! We are really excited to meet each and every one of you and help you through the preseason audition camp process. While R.A.T. Activities are certainly not mandatory, we highly encourage that you will take advantage of all of the following fun activities as well as all of the daily morning R.A.T. drills. This is so that you can meet your fellow R.A.T.s and VETs! You will do most all of these activities in small groups that you will be assigned to during registration on Thursday, August 6th at 10 am, or 8 am if you are a Tiger Eye or a percussionist. These groups are going to be led by your lovely R.A.T. Group Leaders, which are just veteran members of the band that will serve as mentors to you throughout preseason camp! They are just as excited about meeting you as we are!

About Auburn

posted July 1, 2015

Welcome to “The Loveliest Village on the Plains!”

War Eagle!! Now that you’ve learned about a little bit about your leadership and about the history of the R.A.T. program, it is about time you learn about the place you will call home in just a few weeks.

First things first, Auburn University has held several names in its 159 year history.  This wonderful university was first established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn was founded.  In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute or API.  You can even still buy API shirts at the bookstore. Finally, in 1960 the name was changed to Auburn University, more in keeping with its location, and expressed the variety of academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.

What is the R.A.T Program?

posted June 11, 2015

Hey everyone! It's Elijah bringing you the second blog of the summer. Things are really starting to get going around here and we are so excited for Preseason Camp! This long-standing tradition has garnered some of the greatest relationships and friendships Auburn has ever seen. R.A.T., or Rookie Auburn Tiger, is the name given to all new members of the AUMB. It is not a derogatory name as we have a ZERO TOLERANCE for any type of hazing in this great organization, rather it is a term of endearment.
