R.A.T. Activities Schedule and Final Thoughts
posted July 31, 2016

WAR EAGLE! This is Ian bringing you the fourth and FINAL blog post of the summer! You know what that means… preseason camp is only a few short days away! We are really excited to meet each and every one of you and help you through the preseason audition camp process. While R.A.T. Activities are certainly not mandatory, we highly encourage that you will take advantage of all of the following fun activities as well as all of the daily morning R.A.T. drills. This is so that you can meet your fellow R.A.T.s and VETs! You will do most all of these activities in small groups that you will be assigned to during registration on Thursday, August 6th at 10 am, or 8 am if you are a Tiger Eye or a percussionist. These groups are going to be led by your lovely R.A.T. Group Leaders, which are just veteran members of the band that will serve as mentors to you throughout preseason camp! They are just as excited about meeting you as we are! The R.A.T. Activities schedule is as follows:

Day Date & Times       Activity
Thursday  August 4  Restaurant Night at Newk’s on South College
Friday  August 5 Scavenger Hunt and pizza at the Amphitheater
Saturday  August 6 Trivia Night at Goodwin Hall
Sunday  August 7 RAT Adoptions and Ice Cream at Goodwin Hall
Monday  August 8 O-Night at the band field
Tuesday  August 9 Bowling at AMF Auburn Lanes
Wednesday    August 10 Bookstore Night at the AU Bookstore
Thursday  August 11 Off-Night
Friday August 12 AUMB Tailgate Party at the Band Field
Saturday August 13 Off-Night
Sunday  August 14 Section Dinners
Monday August 15 RAT Banquet at Marriott at Grand National

Final thoughts: The R.A.T. Leaders, Drum Majors, and Section Leaders have been preparing all summer for you all to arrive! We are a resource to be used throughout preseason camp and throughout football season. If you need anything at all, please don’t be afraid to ask! As cliché as it sounds, we are here to help. We want to make your transition into college and marching band life as smooth as possible, and we need your help to do that. We all can’t wait to see you on Wednesday at the Newk’s AUMB Benefit Night! Only a few more days until we get to see your beautiful faces, and again, feel free to contact any of us if you have any questions or concerns!

See you soon, and War Eagle!
