How You Can Help

The Beat Bama Food Drive would not be possible without the help of students, faculty, staff, and the local community. We encourage everyone to come together to support our the people in out area before the Holidays. Listed here are some ways that you can help us Beat Bama and Beat Hunger.

Miss Auburn University Cookbook Now Available

Purchase a copy of Cooking With Miss Auburn University and help alleviate domestic hunger in the community. Emilee Williams, Miss Auburn University 2011, was inspired to fight hunger after volunteering at a local food bank and soon after chartered her movement of Food for Thought: Domestic Hunger Awareness. Please use this order form here to purchase a copy of the cookbook. All proceeds from the Miss Auburn University cookbook will be donated to local hunger initiatives. Students
Students who are interested can sign up to volunteer with the food drive by visiting the SGA Volunteers (link to: http://auburn.edu/sga/programs/volunteers/) Page. Furthermore, students can make donations in one of three ways:

  1. Bring canned food items at any of the various barrel locations (link to the barrel locations tab) located around campus.
  2. Starting October 10th, textBEATBAMA” and reply “yes” to 20222 to make a $10 donation to the food Drive.

Student Organizations
The support of student organizations is always an integral part of the Beat Bama Food Drive. Organizations can sponsor a Food Drive Fundraiser, encourage members to bring cans to meetings, make a donation to the Auction Fundraiser, or feature the Food Drive on weekly emails. If you come up with other ways to help with the Food Drive, please feel free to do so. Contact the Food Drive Directors with any questions!

Faculty and Staff

The Beat Bama Food Drive Team Encourages all members of the Auburn Family to become part of the Food Drive effort. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to donate in one of the following ways:

  1. Bring canned food items at any of the various barrel locations (link to the barrel locations tab) located around campus.

Community Members
The Beat Bama Food Drive Team Encourages all members of the East Alabama Community to become part of the Food Drive. You can get involved by starting food drives at local churches, schools, workplaces, etc. Any support or publicity is appreciated! Furthermore, feel free to bring in cans, or donate online at http://foodbankofeastalabama.com/donate/donate-now/. Businesses

The support of businesses through sponsorship and donations is crucial to the food drive. We appreciate the relationships that businesses have with the university, its faculty, staff, and students. We encourage businesses to promote the food drive to both customers and employees.  Below is a list of ways that businesses can help.

  1. Donations
    • Cans: Barrels are located on the Auburn University campus and at several locations throughout the Auburn-Opelika Community. If you would like to schedule a pick-up with the East Alabama Food Bank, contact Donna or Earl at the East Alabama Food Bank to schedule a pick-up at (334)-821-9006 or ddemous@foodbankofeastalabama.com
    • Online: Donations of any amount can be made by visiting http://foodbankofeastalabama.com/donate/donate-now/. Online donations will be open beginning Monday, October 10th.
  2. Sponsorship
  3.          Become a sponsor of the Beat Bama Food Drive and have the opportunity to display your name or logo on t-shirts, banners, invitations to the silent auction, flyers, promotional video.

  4. Auction Fundraiser Donations
  5.          The Beat Bama Food Drive will be having an Auction Fundraiser at the Auburn Hotel and Conference Center on Friday, October 14th from 5:00-9:00. There will be both a live and a silent auction, as well as food and live entertainment. Donations are greatly appreciated and your name or logo will be displayed next to your item.

  6. Flyers
  7.          Please allow us to hang our flyer in the window or front door of your restaurant.

  8. Window Painting
  9.          Allow the Student Government Association Publicity Team to paint the front windows of your restaurant to help promote and publicize the Beat Bama Food Drive. We will happily come to paint and clean up!

  10. Table Tents
  11.          For restaurants, the Student Government Association will provide your venue with “table tents” to place on each table in your restaurant that reminds customers of what and when the Food Drive is.

  12. Clothing
  13.          Purchase a Food Drive T-Shirt and encourage others, including employees, to wear Food Drive T-shirts or Buttons during the Food Drive
