2009 Food Drive Barrel Locations: Coming Soon

The Beat Bama Food Drive will be kicking off on October 12th, 2009 with a press conference at 2pm.  Please check back for further details.

THE PRESENT NEED:

• 1 in 5 Food Pantries in America are having to turn the hungry away due to a lack of supplies
• Demand for food is up 27% and donations are down 50%
• Alabama's state funding cuts will cause more to depend on donated food
• The approaching Holiday season adds to the urgency of this need
• Donated Food channeled to:
  o Emergency food pantries
  o Welfare to Work Families
  o The homeless
  o The mentally ill
  o Disaster victims
  o Mission and rehab centers
  o Low income day care and Senior centers
  

AUBURN'S ALTRUISTIC PAST.

• The first Auburn/Alabama Food Drive yielded around 1,000 lbs. of food
• The event has grown; Auburn collected over 187,017 lbs. last year
• AU has won 9 of the past 14 Food Drives
  

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

• Submit non-perishable food or monetary donations to the SGA office or the East Alabama Food Bank
• Involve your campus organization in the Food Drive
• Purchase food items online at www.beatbamafooddrive.com

• Where do I drop off my donations?
  o AU SGA office (New Student Center) or any of the locations listed above.
  o East Alabama Food Bank (375 Industry Drive)
• Can someone pick up the donations for me?
  o Yes! The East Alabama Food Bank can pick up large donations upon request. Requests become frequent toward the end of the drive so be sure to request before the last 3 days. (821-9006)
• When can I turn in donations?
  o You can turn in donations anytime from October 12th until November
  19th!
