We are going to change this world around… When I first started thinking about what I would do if I were to be the next Miss Auburn, I immediately thought of making our university known worldwide for its support of building up Africa. I then realized that a real change starts at home.
If you drive just ten minutes outside of the beautiful Auburn, it is evident that there are many places in need of help. Families are having to live in dilapidated houses that are in terrible conditions. Habitat for Humanity has always been the organization to help this; therefore, we are going to continue to support Habitat for Humanity of Lee County. We, as Auburn men and women, have the power to make a change. In order to do so, we are going to get down and build up our town!
As Miss Auburn, I plan to start an Auburn tradition by having the first annual “Auburn’s Getting’ Down to Change the World Around!” Dance Marathon.  All of the proceeds of the event will be contributed to Habitat for Humanity Lee County. This fundraiser will allow us, as a University, to build houses for families in need in our town. By doing this, a real change will be made, starting right here at home.
In order to build a Habitat for Humanity house, we must raise $60,000. Dance Marathons have been known to raise over some $800,000.00 from a single event! Together, we will make Auburn University known for its unbelievable capabilities in reviving Habitat for Humanity of Lee County. To start, we can build multiple Auburn Habitat Homes in our area and eventually spread our efforts throughout the U.S. and Africa. Just think, by making the “Auburn’s Getting’ Down to Change the World Around! Dance Marathon” our annual fundraiser, one day we could send groups of students to Africa in order to spread our efforts worldwide and help build up Africa and change our world around!
With my platform, “Get Down! Let’s Change the World Around!” Together, as Auburn men and women, we are going to:
-Get Down! And raise money by dancing a night away with the first annual “Auburn’s Getting Down to Change the World Around” Dance Marathon benefiting Habitat for Humanity Lee County.
-Get Down! (And dirty!) While building Auburn Habitat houses throughout Lee County and even other parts of the country.
-Get Down! (To Africa!) By sending Auburn students worldwide to help build up Africa and change our world around!
I am incredibly passionate about this University and about the needs of our world. I know and believe in my heart that together, as an Auburn family, we can make a change. Change starts at home, so we are going to do just that by starting right here in our town. Get excited about becoming part of a new Auburn tradition, the "Auburn's Getting Down to Change the World Around" Dance Marathon!
