General Scholarships Criteria

Criteria for General Scholarships include but are not limited to geography, class standing, academics, financial need, and/or affiliation with a particular organization. General Scholarships are awarded competitively at an average award amount of $1,500 for one year. Approximately 50% of General Scholarships give preference to incoming freshmen, and approximately 50% of them give preference to students who demonstrate financial need.

Marshall County Auburn Club Annual Scholarship
Preference given to incoming students who are residents and graduates of a Marshall County high school and demonstrate financial need. A maximum of one student per high school is awarded.

Annual Scholarship

Must be a resident and a graduate of an Alabama high school, demonstrate academic excellence, and demonstrate financial need. Chick-Fil-A Endowed Scholarship

Energen First Annual Scholarship
Must be an incoming freshman, a graduate of a Birmingham City School or a central Alabama high school, and a first generation college student.

Must be a resident of the state of Louisiana with preference given to students eligible for services in the Office of Accessibility .

Four Little Girls Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Auburn Veterans Endowed Scholarship
Must be a uniformed U.S. Military service member on active duty, inactive reserves, or honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces and a current resident of Auburn, Alabama, or a dependent of a uniformed U.S. Military service member on active duty, inactive reserves, or honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces and a graduate of a high school in Lee County, Alabama. Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need. Incoming freshmen must have a 23 ACT score or the comparable SAT score. Requires a copy of the DD-214 Form (Report of Separation) and proof of student's legal dependency as defined by IRS code.

Jerrold "Larry" Bailey Annual Scholarship
Must be an honorably discharged veteran from the United States Armed forces. Requires a copy of the DD-214 (Report of Separation).

Johnny Micheal Spann Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Preference given to dependents of Auburn University graduates who were killed while serving in the line of duty, then to dependents of federal service members who were killed while serving in the line of duty, and then to dependents of Auburn University graduates who have honorably served on active federal service. Requires a copy of the front and back of the student’s Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card and a DD Form 1300 (Report of Casualty).

Dr. Clarence Daniel Wright Endowed Scholarship
Preference given to a student who is a veteran of a foreign war. Requires a copy of the DD-214 Form (Report of Separation) for veterans no longer on active duty. Active duty military personnel must submit a letter from his/her commander or a copy of his/her orders.

Must be enrolled in the Navy ROTC program with preference given to rising juniors and seniors interested in Naval Aviation.

Must be enrolled in the Navy ROTC or the Air Force ROTC program. Additional consideration is given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Wade F. Botts Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program.

Lt. General Kelly H. Burke ’52 AFROTC Endowed Scholarship
Must be a junior cadet rising to the status of senior cadet and be enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program.

John McCain Buzbee Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be an AS300 cadet in the Air Force ROTC program.

Corporal Mitchell Red Cloud, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Must be an active duty Marine, enrolled in the NROTC, and demonstrate financial need.

Captain William H. and May D. Compton Annual Scholarship
Must be enrolled in the Naval Reserve Officers Training Program with preference given to a STA21 student who is married with dependents.

Charles H. Cox Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be enrolled in the Army ROTC program with preference given to students who are residents of Madison or Marshall County, Alabama and demonstrate financial need.  Priority consideration is given to students in the Alabama National Guard.

Captain Scott Cummins Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising senior in the Army ROTC program.

Grady F. “Buddy” Edwards, Jr. Memorial NROTC Endowed Scholarship
Must be enrolled in the Navy ROTC program with preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need and has a background in community service and volunteerism.

Must be a sophomore who has completed at least two, but not more than four semesters at Auburn, demonstrates leadership ability, and is involved in a student organization.

Must be an initiated member or pledge of Kappa Alpha Order with preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need.

Emerging Leader Institute Annual Scholarship
Must be an enrolled freshman or sophomore and demonstrate qualities of an emerging leader. Requires completion of a separate application and recommendation from a faculty/staff member submitted to the Emerging Leader Institute Selection Committee. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Emerging Leader Institute Selection Committee.

Must be a member of the Emerging Leader Institute at Auburn University. James E. and Emma O. Foy "Foy Spirit Award" Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising senior who demonstrates academic excellence, campus leadership, and a commitment to honoring the Auburn Creed. Requires nomination by an established campus or community organization. Marilyn Krieger Glass Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior with preference given to members of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Elizabeth Ann Hall Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be an Alabama resident with preference given to students who are members of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, demonstrate academic excellence, and demonstrate financial need.

Hey Day Annual Scholarship
Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior. Requires completion of a separate application and submission form available on the Student Government Association website followed by an interview with the Hey Day Scholarship Committee. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Hey Day Scholarship Committee.

David and Susan Housel Annual Award
Preference given to a student in Media Relations who demonstrates financial need. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Director of Athletics.

Interfraternity Council Endowed Scholarship
Must demonstrate academic excellence, be an active member of a fraternity, and demonstrate campus leadership and a commitment to honoring the Auburn Creed as well as the Interfraternity Council Mission Statement. For more information, contact the Office of the Dean of Students.

Frederick and Charlene Kam Annual Scholarship
Must be a current Auburn student who has completed at least 60 Auburn credit hours, is a student in good standing with no record of disciplinary action, is a member in good standing of a registered student organization and has shown leadership initiative in that organization, and demonstrates exceptional attention to a social problem in the community or elsewhere and actively works to find a solution. Frederick A. and Charlene Y. Kam and Family Endowed Scholarship
Must be elected to the position of Student Government Association President.

Barbara Coggins McGlamery Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising senior, be a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, be involved in campus leadership, and have a 3.14 Auburn GPA.

Miss Auburn University Annual Scholarship
Must be selected as Miss Auburn University or in the top five.

Persons with Disabilities Annual Scholarship
Must be a rising junior, rising senior, or graduate student; have a minimum 3.5 Auburn GPA; and be eligible for services in the Office of Accessibility. Recipients are selected by the Office of Accessibility Scholarship Committee.

Thomas W. Price Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising senior with preference given to members of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity who demonstrate financial need.

Must be elected as Miss Auburn.

W. James Samford, Jr. '72 Memorial Annual Scholarship
Preference given to students in their junior year who have completed at least 61 but not more than 89 semester hours. Philanthropic and leadership activities will also be considered. Requires completion of a separate application and an interview with the W. James Samford, Jr. Scholarship Committee. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the W. James Samford, Jr. Scholarship Committee.

Robert B. Strong Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Must be a rising senior who is employed at least part-time and is involved in a major student or community organization on campus.

Student Alumni Association Annual Scholarship
Must be a rising senior, have a minimum 3.5 Auburn GPA, and be a current member of the Student Alumni Association, with preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need.

Student Government Association Auburn Creed Annual Scholarship
Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Auburn Creed Scholarship Committee. The Committee will consider students by evaluating how each nominee best embodies the Auburn Creed. For more information, contact the Student Government Association.

Student Government Association President Scholarship
Must be elected to the position of Student Government Association President.

Student Government Association Outstanding Senate and Cabinet Member Scholarship

Horace and Selwyn Turner Endowed Scholarship
Must demonstrate academic excellence and be a member in good standing of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Debbie Thompson Spirit Award Endowed Scholarship
Must be an Auburn University student who is a member of the War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen with preference given to a first generation college student who demonstrates financial need.

Arnold W. Umbach, Sr. Annual Scholarship
Must be a member of the Auburn University Wrestling Club and be in good academic standing with preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Auburn Wrestling Club Advisory Council.

Hub Waldrop Endowed Scholarship
Must be a student athletic trainer with preference given to students who are preparing for a career as a trainer in sports medicine and demonstrate academic excellence. Recipients are recommended to the Office of University Scholarships by the Athletic Department.

Young Women Leadership Endowed Scholarship
Must be a mentor in the Young Women Leadership Program. Preference given to rising juniors and seniors who demonstrate financial need and are first generation college students.

Auburn University Employee Dependent Children Endowed Scholarship
Must be enrolled at the Auburn University main campus and be a dependent of a full-time Auburn University employee, with preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need. Requires completion of a separate application available in January with a March 1 deadline.

Must demonstrate financial need with preference given to students who are dependents of former employees of J & M Bookstore. Requires a letter of interest including parent’s name and dates of employment with J & M Bookstore, as well as a resume of student’s school and/or community activities and work history.

Ceddrick C. Mack Memorial Beacon Leadership Endowed Scholarship

Miller Mill Company, Inc., Cedar Creek Land & Timber, Inc., or Miller Investment Group, LLC, and have declared a major in Natural Resource Management, Biosystems Engineering, Agriculture, Forestry, Business, Engineering, Nursing, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, or Marine Biology. Requires completion of a separate application, provided by the parent/guardian’s place of employment. Completed applications must be submitted to the Office of University Scholarships.

Presbyterian Home for Children Endowed Scholarship
Must demonstrate financial need with preference given to residents of the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega, Alabama, as well as staff members or their children. Contact the Office of University Scholarships for acceptable documentation.

Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship(PLUS)
Preference given to a student who is a first generation college student, demonstrates financial need, is an Alabama resident, and demonstrates diversity as determined by the goals of the Auburn University Strategic Diversity Plan.
