Velda Rooker, Director of University Scholarships
Originally from Dothan, Alabama, Velda graduated from high school in Panama City, Florida. She received her bachelors and masters from Auburn University and has been the Director of University Scholarships since November 2002. During her tenure, several new Freshman Scholarship programs have been implemented, and the total amount in scholarships awarded by the Office of University Scholarships has increased 136% from $5 million to $12 million.

Naomi Wadkins, Scholarship Advisor
Originally from West Point, Georgia, Naomi is the newest staff member of the Office of University Scholarships. She holds a bachelors degree from LaGrange College and a masters from Troy University. Prior to joining our office in August 2007, Naomi worked as a Financial Aid Advisor. She coordinates the awarding of one-year General Scholarships awarded by the Office of University Scholarships.

Connie Gay, Scholarship Specialist
Originally from Cusseta, Alabama, Connie has worked with the Office of University Scholarships since March 2003. Prior to joining our office, she worked in Financial Aid for five years. Connie coordinates the processing of External Scholarships awarded by individuals or organizations external to Auburn University.

Jenny Young, Scholarship Specialist
Jenny is an Auburn, Alabama native and has worked with the Office of University Scholarships since January 2002. She coordinates the processing of Departmental Scholarships awarded by Auburn University’s various Schools and Colleges.
