Winter Conference Feb 19-21st!

fall-creek-falls.jpgAt Fall Creek Falls State Park in TN, we’ve sledded and hiked and swam (polar bear club) and snowball fought and studied the Bible and worshiped and tried to figure out what we believe.    This is a great weekend with all RUF’s from Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.  This year’s speaker is John Stone preaching about the cross of Jesus and what it means for us.  He engages everyone so don’t worry if you know enough or know too much to come.  This conference includes seminars on doubt, alcohol, one for guys only, another for girls only, money, music in worship, confessions, scripture, and how God can be sovereign and us responsible.  There is ample free time on Friday night, all Saturday afternoon, and late Saturday night.
The cost is $75 on or before February 2nd.  Then $85.  It includes lodging, conference activities, and meals all day Saturday and Sunday morning.  Talk to Richard about financial assistance.
You can pay online through the paypal link below or by check payable to RUF.  Everyone must email Sarah Katheryn their Name, Phone Number, Email, Gender, Parents’ Names, and Emergency Contact Number.
We will organize a ride for you so that you can get to know new folks from RUF if you like.  Email Sarah Katheryn if you can drive or ride and what time you can leave on Friday.
Finally eat on the way up no later than Chattanooga and here are the directions to the park.  Take I-85 to Atlanta, then I-75 North to Chattanooga, take I-24 toward Nashville, take Hwy 27 North toward Dayton and follow Highway 111 North to the park entrance on the right.  You will have to make several turns so follow the signs and once in the park follow the signs to the Inn. We can’t wait to see you there!

Large Group Mondays @ 8 in Dudley Hall B6

C.S. Lewis writes about the Psalms, “I find [there] an experience fully God-centered, asking of God no gift more urgently than His presence, the gift of Himself, joyest to the highest degree, and unmistakably real.”  This semester Richard will preach through the Psalms because we find there the knowledge of God framed through our responses to Him.  They testify to our need for God in every circumstance and serve as a guide for seeking and knowing Him in the depths of despair, the richest celebrations and the humdrum of every day life.  By contrast, we “go through the motions” and find it difficult to break through the religious veneer that hardens over our lives.  Exploring the Psalms together we seek the conviction with Lewis that God is unmistakably real and the wisdom to follow him well.  If you have never been to one of our meetings, this is what you can expect. We get together to know and worship God and explore what that would mean. There is singing, announcements, prayers, readings from Scripture, opportunities to confess our sin to God or declare what we believe about him, and preaching. If you are trying to figure out what you believe about Jesus, we try our best to show you what Christians are like and speak in ways that make sense and are meaningful to all. We believe that if you join us to know or know more of God in your life, you will. See you soon.

Freshmen Bible Study Tuesdays at 4 in the Student Center

fmenrollingtoomersWe believe that the primary way God makes himself known to us is as we humbly read, study, and embrace his Word.  One of the best things about being at Auburn is the new friends we can make.  Some great friendships come every year from this study because God is at work in us.  We love it when a smaller community forms within RUF that loves to hang out and begins to serve others around us.  This semester we are studying James and will see how God is shaping us through faith in Christ into the people that we were created to be.  We meet for an hour and often eat dinner afterwards.  Occassionaly we will do something different like spend a longer time in prayer, serve the community together or do something through which we can introduce others friends to RUF.  I hope that you can make it.  Richard, Tom and Meggie will lead it.

Get connected in a Fellowship Group

When God works to redeem he builds a people for himself and for one another.  We were made to know others and be known by them.  Fellowship groups meet at various times during the week for knowing, serving, laughing, praying, eating and discussing God’s Word.  Some for dudes, some for dames and some for both.  When they begin we will update the different groups on the small groups page and post them on the facebook group.
