Exciting news for the Auburn Univerty Rowing Team!!
Edward Budimier, our men’s team Vice President, has set a World Record for the Individual Heavyweight, age 20-29, Million Meter Row!! For 9 days, he spent an average of 9 hours on an erg in his garage in Virgina averaging 115 kilometers a day to finish the Million meters in a record of 197 hours and 41 minutes between December 15th-23rd 2010!
He had a television with some movies and an ipod playing music to keep him company and, when he finished each day, re-hydrated and ate plenty of food rich in carbs.
This is an amazing feat to achieve and we would like to congratulate Edward again on this oustanding accomplishment!

The Auburn Rowing Team is on holiday after a spectacular season!
The semester has been peppered with obstacles that the team has gotten through together so, we are taking a well-deserved rest before 2011 Spring 2k season begins.
We dominated the Hobbs Island race in Huntsville. Medals include:

A HUGE Congratulations to our men’s Varsity Heavy 4+ who came home from the Head of the Hooch with silver medals and our Women’s Varsity 4+ who placed 8th. Both in races that had over 30 other boats to compete against.
In other news, our coach, Dr.Garcia, will be taking a leave-of-absence for the Spring semester. Former member, Jessica Bankos will be taking over the duties of Head Coach until Dr.Garcia returns in the fall.
As usual, we are gearing up to do some light recruiting for the spring. So, if you’re interested in signing up for a sport with a group of close students, please don’t hesitate to contact someone under the officers tab and check out our FAQ. Fall season is upon us and we’re looking for new recruits for a new year. If you’re interested in learning to row or if you already have experience and want to get back on the water, come by the student center tomorrow (Sept 2) at 8:00pm for an informational meeting in room 2326. We’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Returning members, unofficial practices have begun. Same time (4:50) same place (Coliseum). We’re starting off light so everyone can be on the same level.
On the fence about joining the team? Come to practice and give it a try. No strings attached. Just a nice, light workout.
Looking forward to a great season!

The team will be ordering some hats and visors soon. They will be a great compliment to our uniforms or for any parents who like to brag about their rowers/coxswains. They are very common to the rowing world and look spectacular!
