AMIL Mission

The Auburn University AMIL operates under a four-part mission:
  • Provide state-of-the-art research support, consultation and resources for studies involving the fine structure of cells and tissue, and non-biological materials using transmission and scanning electron microscopy and image analysis;

  • Educate and train faculty, students, staff and post-doctorate researchers in the theories and techniques of modern electron microscopy;

  • Focus attention on the research mission and capabilities of the facility by highlighting activities through tours and workshops to Alabama schools, university classes, extension groups, research institutions, industry and civic organizations;

    Provide electron microscopy services to users within and outside the university system on a fee basis.

AMIL is located in room 37 of the Rouse Life Sciences Building. Office hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, but other schedules may be arranged on an as-needed basis through the director.
