Animal Resources Policy Manual — The OAR Policy
Manual was written by a committee composed of faculty
investigators, IACUC members, and administrative staff. When the
first full draft of the policy was completed, it was reviewed by
current IACUC members who made suggestions for improvement of
the document. The Policy Committee then held two open forums for
university stakeholders to give their views and suggestions.
After taking into consideration the comments/suggestions of the
stakeholders, the Policy Committee prepared a final draft and
presented it to IACUC for final approval. Upon final IACUC
approval, the Committee forwarded the policy to Interim
President William F. Walker for approval and implementation. Dr.
Walked signed and implemented the new policy on February 5,
2002. The policy was subsequently revised on December 4, 2003
and April 21, 2005.
All
investigators are encouraged to review the revised manual
carefully and contact the Office of Animal Resources if they
have questions regarding the policies and procedures described
in the manual. Please note that there have been some
significant changes.
