Auburn University

Established in 1856, Auburn University is a comprehensive land-grant, doctoral-granting institution. Located in Auburn, Ala., the main campus of the university is a multi-million dollar complex of more than 89 major buildings on 1,843 acres. The university has a statewide presence through the Agricultural Experiment Station and conducts research throughout the state, and has Extension agents located in all 67 Alabama counties. 

More than 24,000 students enrolled in the fall of 2007, and the university has more than 1,100 full-time faculty.  It has 12 schools and colleges that offer more than 200 degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, ranging from the sciences and engineering to the social sciences, humanities, and creative arts.

Technology Transfer

Business Development 

Auburn University offers a variety of programs that promote entrepreneurship, provide technical assistance to businesses, and aid in business development.  For example, some of these programs include the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship, Auburn Technical Assistance Center, and the Small Business Development Center that reside in the AU College of Business, and the Auburn Engineering Technical Assistance Program in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.  More information about these programs can be found at www.business.auburn.edu/.
