Academic Requirements
The course load for graduate students in their first three years of enrollment is generally 12 academic quarter hours. All graduate students complete a core curriculum in the foundational areas of psychology and each of the three graduate programs has additional course requirements. In the I/O Program graduate students typically take elective courses within the Department, and from faculty in the Department of M anagement in the College of Business and from methodologically-oriented faculty in the College of Education. Students who enter the Program without a masters degree in psychology are required to complete a research-based thesis. Doctoral students complete a major review paper and are required to complete a doctoral dissertation. Completion of a research-based masters thesis is required to be classified as a doctoral candidate. Students serving as paid graduate teaching assistants are required to enroll in a course on the teaching of psychology.
