Prerequisites
The ratio of applicants to the number of available positions in the graduate program has been high nationally for clinical psychology programs. At Auburn, typically there are about 160 completed applications per year. Over the past few years, the size of the incoming class has ranged from 6 to 9. See Program Statistics for detailed information. Applicants to the program are expected to take the GRE (Verbal, Quantitative, Writing; the Advanced Subject test is optional). Most new students have GREs with scores averaging 560 Verbal and 650 Quantitative. Applicants are expected to demonstrate competence in the basic areas of psychology through undergraduate psychology courses. Courses in methodology and statistics are particularly important. The typical successful candidate also has been involved in research and applied settings.
