Psi Chi: The National Honor Society in Psychology

Auburn Chapter

 

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications.

What are the requirements to become a Psi Chi member of Auburn?
- Seeking a major in Psychology or a related field
- Completion of 3 semesters of college courses (i.e. must be at least a second year college student)
- Completion of at least 9 semester hours in psychology classes OR completion of 6 semester hours in psychology while currently taking 3 hours.
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative and a 3.0 psychology GPA (this will be verified when application is
submitted)

Do I have to renew my membership every year?

No. Psi Chi membership is earned with good grades and is for life.  Your membership will be recorded in the Psi Chi national office and can be referenced on applications to graduate school or jobs. There is a one-time
membership fee of $75, which is due when you submit your initial application.  Once a member, always a member.

You should join Auburn’s Psi Chi chapter because it provides you with an opportunity to connect with fellow psychology majors and the amazing faculty in Auburn’s psychology department. Being a member of Psi Chi is a great organization to put on your vitae and Psi Chi also provides help to student who are planning to go to graduate school.
