Speaker: Climate Myths and Misconceptions
 

There are still many Myths and Misconceptions about Global Climate Change. Come see what the data indicate and conclude for yourself.

Actor and educator, Jens Rasmussen, is one of nearly 1,000 citizens that have been trained by The Climate Project to deliver this science-based presentation that was seen by more than a million audience members in 2007.

Learn what is known about this important topic based on data from: US Navy, US Air Force, US DoD, NOAA, NASA, Goddard Space Institute, Scripps Institute for Oceanography, MIT, Princeton University, and many others.

Focus the Nation and AU on Climate Change Solutions
 

It's just over a week until the Focus the Nation climate change symposium at Auburn.

Date: Wed, Jan 30

Time: 9am - 4:30pm & 6 - 7:30pm

Location: AU Hotel & Dixon Conference Center (Auditorium)

Mark your calendar now to attend this symposium with a spectacular lineup of expert speakers from a range of disciplines during the day (Schedule).

The evening session (6-7:30pm) will include an address by Auburn's President, Jay Gouge, about AU and Climate Change, followed by a non-partisan panel discussion with Auburn students and local and state political figures.

We encourage faculty to consider taking their classes to any sessions that they think are appropriate.

Dump Those Old Directories the Right Way
 

Through January 23rd the AU Recycling program is collecting old phone books and magazines on campus.

Those in buildings with Deskside Recycling can use their office bins. There are also collection containers in the lobbies of many buildings on campus. Please visit the program website for a list of locations.

The Aluminum is About to Fly!
 

This year Auburn is entered as a competitor against other colleges and universities in RecycleMania.

The 10 week national competition allows a friendly competition among colleges where everyone ultimately wins. But this could be the year that Auburn brings home one of the sweet recycled statues and bragging rights.

In addition to the national competition, there will be an on-campus competition at Auburn between the three major residence areas: Quad, Hill, Village. There will be individual prizes as well as a grand prize for the residential area that contributes most.

SE Student Renewable Energy Conference - Feb 8-10

This 5th Southeastern student conference on renewable energy will be close to home this year in Valdosta, GA. Join the group from Auburn that is already planning to attend.

This is a great chance for Auburn students to interact with their counterparts from other campuses in the region to work towards energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions on campuses and around throughout the southeast.

Even students on the leanest budget can participate. The minimal $25 fee covers your registration, food from Friday dinner all the way to Sunday lunch, and (if you are content to camp) your lodging.

Green Living Workshop:

The AU Environmental Awareness Organization (EAO) will present a workshop on Green Living - what it is and how to achieve it.

Date: Feb 21

Time: 8 - 9pm

Location: Foy 189 (SOS office on ground floor)

Students, faculty, and anyone interested are welcome to attend this free workshop. No reservations are necessary and there will be free canvas bags for everyone who shows up.
