DRIVE

RESPECT
those on two wheels.
RELATE
to the pedestrians.
REMIND
yourself of the consequences.

DRIVE Yield to oncoming cyclists when turning left at an intersection. Do not cross the double yellow to pass a cyclist unless it is clear to do so. Do not pass cyclists if you will be making a right-hand turn immediately after passing. Look for cyclists and pedestrians before turning right. Look for cyclists and pedestrians on sidewalks when pulling into a driveway. Do not honk your horn when approaching cyclists. Stop for pedestrians crossing in the crosswalk because they have the legal right-of-way. Expect the unexpected; children on bicycles are often unpredictable. Allow 3 feet of clearance when passing a cyclist. Do not drive or park in the bike lanes. Do not block the crosswalk when you stop at an intersection. Obey the speed limit and slow down when around heavy pedestrian or cycling traffic. Do not drink and drive.

Respect. Relate. Remind.

One week each Fall the City of Auburn and Auburn University partner to bring Auburn residents a recurring Safety Week. WaCaDa is designed to remind Auburn residents that we all walk, cycle, and drive alike. A mutual respect for others on the road and safety rules will create a better and safer Auburn for everyone.
