CYCLE

RESPECT
those on the sidewalk.
RELATE
to the driver.
REMIND
yourself to use good judgement.

CYCLE Ride with traffic. Obey all signs, signals and traffic laws. Stop and look before entering a street from a parking lot or driveway. Wear a helmet correctly (level and snug). A helmet is required by law for children fifteen and younger. Ride with lights at night. Use proper hand signals when turning. Riding single file in traffic is often safer than riding two abreast. Do not drink and cycle. Cycling, roller blading or skateboarding is prohibited on the sidewalks downtown. Yield to pedestrians. Secure bicycles in bike racks when parking downtown. Perform a safety inspection before riding. Make eye contact with vehicle drivers and signal your intentions. Maintain a safe speed when using an off-road path. Do not weave in and around vehicles. Warn pedestrians before passing them from behind on an off-road path. Stay to the right side of an offroad path to allow for two-way traffic. Be predictable.

Respect. Relate. Remind.

One week each Fall the City of Auburn and Auburn University partner to bring Auburn residents a recurring Safety Week. WaCaDa is designed to remind Auburn residents that we all walk, cycle, and drive alike. A mutual respect for others on the road and safety rules will create a better and safer Auburn for everyone.
