PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK IN AT THE VOLUNTEER TABLE IN THE HALLWAY INSIDE. GLOVES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.
YOU MUST WEAR THE OBSERVATION GOWN (IN BOX) AND A CAP AND MASK (AVAILABLE AT THE SPAY STATION SUPPLY TABLE) TO TRANSPORT CATS IN AND OUT OF THE STERILE SURGERY AREA!!!
The responsibility of the Spay Transporter is to assure that the veterinarians have a cat in front of them at all times.
The Spay Prep volunteers will put prepped cats on the holding tables in the order they arrived. Work with these volunteers to be sure that the cats are delivered to the veterinarians in the correct order (first in, first out).
As soon as a vet finishes a cat, be ready to put a new cat in its place.
Be very careful not to touch the prepped area on the cat. If you do, return it to the prep station for another wipe.
MONITOR the cats carefully for normal respiration (>6/minute), heartbeat (>100/minute), and gum color (pink). If the cat is not breathing well or its gums are blue, pull firmly on the tongue, press a fingernail on the nose leather and call for assistance from a veterinarian.
IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS, NOTIFY THE SUPERVISOR.
PLEASE LEAVE THIS INSTRUCTION SHEET WITH YOUR STATION KIT AT THE END OF THE DAY. THANK YOU!
