RECOVERY TRANSPORT

PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK IN AT THE VOLUNTEER TABLE IN THE HALLWAY INSIDE. GLOVES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.

The responsibility of the Recovery Transport volunteer is to transport cats from the Medications station to the Recovery station.

As the cats are finished at the Medications Station, the volunteers will alert you. Bring the cat to the Recovery station. Double-check to be sure the carrier number matches the cat's paw tag number. Remove the paw tag and any remaining tape from the cat. Store the paw tag in the paw tag box. This will serve as a permanent record of the cat's surgery.

The volunteers at the Medications Station will administer an anesthetic reversal agent just before giving the cat to you. This medication reverses the effects of the anesthetic and wakes the cats up. The cat should immediately be placed into the proper trap to wake up, NOT ON THE FLOOR OR A TABLE!! The reversal agent (called yohimbine) works very fast in some cats, so do not delay getting the cat in the trap.

It is essential that ALL latches and bolts on traps are securely fastened.

At the end of the clinic, help to clean up the Recovery station and dispose of trash.

PLEASE LEAVE THIS INSTRUCTION SHEET AND THE BOX OF PAW TAGS AT YOUR STATION AT THE END OF THE DAY. CHECK TO BE SURE YOU HAVE A PAW TAG FOR EVERY CAT FOR THE DAY. THANK YOU.
