PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK IN AT THE VOLUNTEER TABLE IN THE HALLWAY INSIDE. GLOVES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.
The responsibilities of the Medications Transport volunteers are:
1. to transport finished cats from both the Spay and Neuter stations to the Medications
station
2. to remove females from their spay boards and return the dirty spay boards to the Spay
Prep station
When you arrive at the clinic, be sure you learn the locations of the Spay stations, Neuter stations and Medications station.
There are 2 Medications Transport volunteers. One volunteer should be in charge of male cats and the other should be in charge of female cats. The volunteer in charge of female cats will need to wear an observation gown, cap and mask. The observation gown is in your station kit. The cap and mask can be obtained from the spay station supply table. The volunteer in charge of the male cats will not have to wear any of these items.
The volunteer in charge of male cats will need to bring the male cats from the Neuter stations to the Medications stations. The volunteer in charge of female cats will need to bring cats from the Spay stations to the Medications station. Females should be removed from their spay boards prior to delivery to the Medications station. Gently remove all tape that was used to secure females to the spay boards from their legs, BUT BE SURE TO LEAVE THE PAW TAG SECURELY IN PLACE!!! Give dirty spay boards to the instrument detail station.
Both volunteers should work together such that when delivering a cat to the Medications station, the cats are arranged so that they may be handled in a first-in, first- out manner. Give them directly to an available station if no cats are on the waiting table, or place them on the waiting table in order!
MONITOR the cats carefully. Respiration (>6/minute), heartbeat (>100/minute), and gum color (pink). If the cat is not breathing well or its gums are blue, pull firmly on the tongue, press a fingernail on the nose leather and NOTIFY THE CLINIC SUPERVISOR for assessment.
IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS, NOTIFY THE SUPERVISOR.
PLEASE TURN IN THIS INSTRUCTION SHEET AT YOUR STATION AT THE END OF THE DAY. THANK YOU!
