Renovation

During the fall, Alpha Iota Club completed phase one of its renovation plan for the chapter house.  First, the club with assistance from Pi Kappa Phi national negotiated a settlement of the mortgage with Auburn University at a savings of $50,000.  With title to the house now free and clear in the hands of Pi Kapps, this paved the way for renovations to begin in earnest.  By September, construction crews had completed a full demolition of the interior spaces including removal of all damaged or worn-out furnishing, wall and floor treatments, fixtures, etc.  The housemother suite was provided a limited fix-up for a resident to live in the building and help keep it secure during renovations.  Alumnus brother Ed Tracy has moved in the suite and will live on property for the interim.

The second phase of renovation has begun.  Architect and construction plans are in process under the guidance of alumni Wilbur and Sommerville Hill.  The next major activity will be the installation of a comprehensive sprinkler fire safety system for the dorm, commons area, and multiuse building.   Exterior renovations will also begin in the next few months including roof repair, drainage grading, stucco repair and termite mitigation.
