To make an MPG from AVI

Capturing from an analog tape (Analog does not record reference #)

• Connect Sony Digital Handycam to computer, open side screen. On VTR

• Open DVRaptor

• On screen VCR controls used differently - no time code shown

Data code button does not work with analog tape.

• Using log sheet, get VHS tape, digital tape will have number in lower left screen, analog will be in upper right. Rewind tape. Set counter to zero (000). Do the same thing with the tape in the camera - rewind, reset counter to zero.

• Observing action and sound, look at log sheet to locate first segment, then note # on the Sony. Stop at 2 seconds before the spot required (rewind if necessary).

• To change capture method to seamless. Browse to place D drive in appropriate subject folder. Name it (ex. person1.avi or math1.avi).

• Hover cursor over Capture button. Press play button on top of camera, & as soon as the tape begins to play click Capture.

• Watch & listen. Go at least 2 seconds past the end point on the log sheet for the mark out point.

• Capture all clips from this tape in a similar fashion. When closing out, do not save Changes.

• Open Adobe Premiere.

• Open New Project (or one in progress if you are adding to pre-existing clips)

• Load DVRaptor NTSC settings. OK.

• Next. Next. Next.

• Key frame & rendering options window - Change Field settings - No fields. OK.

• Project window + monitor window + timeline window should all three show. If not drag down from Window

• Extend work area beg & end points to longer than the time of the clip. (On-Line help file or Adobe Premiere manual might be helpful here.)

File > Import > File >D drive ....... etc.

Drag clip from Project window to timeline window.Be sure end indicator is after the end of clip.

The clip is a digital copy of the original analog tape which is unchanged.
