Instructions for National Bank Assignment

1. You have been given two letters and a Letter Analysis sheet. You will work in pairs to read carefully and analyze Jefferson and Hamilton's arguments about the issue of the National Bank. Be sure that you agree about all of the answers on the Letter Analysis sheet.

2. When your pair has satisfactorily completed the Letter Analysis sheet, you will be assigned to support the viewpoint of one of the two authors. You will complete two items that convey your assigned author's position about the Bank: an editorial cartoon and a letter to the editor of a newspaper. 

3. In both products, be sure that you use your author's beliefs and your background knowledge about the issue. Your finished products should demonstrate that you understand:

-- The facts of the Bank issue 

-- The underlying controversy over the Constitution and the role of the national government.

-- The beliefs and arguments of your author

-- The beliefs and arguments of the other side on this issue. In the editorial, be sure to explain why the other side's position would not be in the country's best interest.

4. Your products will be assessed based upon:
