1.  Choose a topic/issue for research

2.  Choose a problem or research question to be answered

3.  Plan for the research
· Divide the problem into points of viewóone per group member
· Choose research method
· Choose method of presentation to class

4.  Gather resources
· Newspaperóarticles and editorials
· Magazines or journals
· Books
· Television
· Internet
· Interviews with appropriate sources

5.  Sort through information
· Use the four critical analysis criteria to evaluate the soundness of each resource
· Remember to show the problems related to each source
· Select the appropriate information to include in the written document and presentation

6. Devise a format for reporting the research findings
· Group should complete one report which records the points of view in an unbiased manner ñ Examples include a letter to the editor,
    newspaper report, or research report for a journal

7.  Create a format for presentation
· Formats include website, poster session, video, or Power Point
· This is a group effort
