Hangeul Party (한글파티)

Korea Corner held a Hangeul Party on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Hubert Grace Harris Senior Center in Auburn, AL. Approximately 80 Auburn University students and community members attended this special event. The Hangeul Party was organized by Hangeul Planet, non-profit organization in Seoul, Korea, as it has at many universities and colleges both in Korea and the United States over the last several years. The Hangeul Party came to Auburn for the second year in a row following last year’s successful event. Well-known Korean calligrapher, Byoung Chul Park, demonstrated the art of Korean calligraphy as he explained the intersection of poetry and visual art that is communicated through Hangeul. Dr. Makiko Mori, who was among the faculty members in attendance, reflected on the event saying, "Mr. Park’s presentation was very engaging and I really enjoyed it. I saw that people particularly enjoyed the opportunities to participate in the demonstration with Mr. Park." The event was co-sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, the City of Auburn, and Hangeul Planet.
