Overview

The Alabama Assistive Technology Expo and Conference (ALATEC) will provide an opportunity to see first-hand the latest in assistive technologies, practices and services for persons with disabilities that will increase the ability of such persons to access education, employment, housing, transportation, health care and leisure/recreation in the community of choice. ALATEC will provide professional development and training to increase the knowledge and skills in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: Adult Services, Education/Learning, Visual and Hearing Impairment, Communication, and Physical Accessibility/Mobility.

ALATEC will provide a unique opportunity for vendors, persons with disabilities, their families and loved ones, professionals (e.g. educators, rehabilitation counselors, EI personnel, Speech/Language Pathologists, therapists and other service providers) to exchange and gather information relative to the accessibility and availability of assistive technology.

ALATEC is a collaborative effort of the following organizations:

CEUs

The Alabama Assistive Technology & Expo Conference (ALATEC) will be offering Auburn University Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Detailed information is forthcoming.

Individual ALATEC certificates will be available at the conclusion of the conference and will show the Auburn University Continuing Education CEUs.

A transcript of your Auburn University Continuing Education CEUs may be obtained at request for CEU transcript. There will be a $10.00 charge for transcript copies.

CERTIFIED REHABILITATION COUNSELOR CEUS
Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRCs) will be eligible for CRC credits. Further details are forthcoming. CRCs must sign in and out at the registration desk both days of ALATEC (2017 Dates TBA), to be eligible for the CRC continuing education credits.

There are two types of registration for the Alabama Assistive Technology Expo & Conference – waiver and general.

Cancellation Policy

If you are not able to attend the conference and you have registered for a registration fee waiver, please contact Alan Spencer at (334) 844-5193 or acs0132@auburn.edu so that your waiver may be awarded to someone who can attend.

If a general registration is canceled for any reason, the individual or organization making the original tuition payment will receive:

  1. A full refund, less an administrative fee of $25, if the cancellation request is received in writing at least 4 weeks prior to the start date of the program
  2. A refund of 50%, if the cancellation request is received in writing less than 4 weeks prior but at least 2 weeks prior to the program start date
  3. No refund for a 'No Show' or for a cancellation request received less than 2 weeks prior to the start date of the program

Note: A registration may be transferred to another person at any time for a $25 transfer fee.
