Dr. Mary Burkhart, OLLI Executive DirectorMary Burkhart received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Florida State University in 1973. She came to Auburn in 1974 to work in what was then called the Conference Office. She directed the Community Courses program for a number of years and served as Alabama Elderhostel State Director from 1979 to 1998. In 1989, she formed the Auburn University Academy for Lifelong Learners (AUALL). AUALL received a grant from the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in 2007 and AUALL was renamed to OLLI at Auburn. Now semi-retired, Mary continues to serve as the Executive Director for OLLI at Auburn.
Linda Shook, OLLI Associate DirectorLinda Shook holds a M.Ed. in Adult Education from Auburn University. She received a B.A. in public relations with a minor in human resource management from The University of Alabama. Currently, she serves as the associate director for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University (OLLI at Auburn). She is responsible for the day to day operations of the OLLI program. Prior to this, she worked for non-profit organizations and has many years of experience in volunteer management.
Betty Hare, OLLI AV AssistantBetty Hare has an M.Ed.in Education of the Deaf from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and a B.A. in Special Education from Auburn University. She worked as a special education teacher for 27 years in Lee County, Alabama, and Greensboro, North Carolina. As the OLLI AV Assistant, Betty coordinates audio-visual needs for OLLI classes.
