Bishop appointed OLLI interim director

Scott BishopScott Bishop has been named interim director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI at AU) in the Division of University Outreach. Her appointment was effective April 15, 2019.

"Scott Bishop will bring to the interim director's role extensive experience working in adult education, including developing and implementing a diverse set of educational programs," said Royrickers Cook, vice president for University Outreach. "I look forward to working with Scott to advance the mission of OLLI, and welcome her to the Outreach family."

Bishop comes to OLLI most recently from Auburn University’s Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art where she gathered fifteen years of experience developing academic and public programs and facilitating campus and community partnerships. She earned a BA (Philosophy) and MA (English) from Auburn University, and she studied Art History at the graduate level at Emory University. Raised in Elmore County, she has been a resident of Auburn since 1974. She and her husband, Associate Professor Emeritus of Art Gary Wagoner, raised two daughters who attended Auburn City Schools, one of whom is a graduate of Auburn University.

"In my work at Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art I have had the opportunity to get to know OLLI and many of its members," said Bishop. "I am excited for this opportunity to work for and with this vibrant community of Lifelong Learners."

Bishop succeeds Ileeia Cobb, who had served as OLLI director since 2016. Cobb leaves Auburn to accept an appointment with the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health.
