Alabama's land-grant universities hosted a special joint commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Morrill Act on October 29th at the Dixon Conference Center at Auburn. Peter McPherson, president of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (A.P.L.U), was the special keynote speaker for the event. The programs began with presentations on collaborative initiatives, followed by the luncheon featuring President McPherson's keynote address. The event was hosted jointly by Tuskegee University, Alabama A&M University and Auburn University. More than 145 people attended the event.
