| Goals: |
1. Build the capacity of individuals and organizations by addressing relevant content through meaningful learning opportunities and processes to reflect upon and apply newly acquired knowledge. |
| |
2. Create networks for informal mentoring, idea and resource sharing, and on-going collaboration focused on the improvement of learning opportunities for all students. |
| |
3. Create supportive communities which encourage diverse groups to work together to resolve educational problems facing our schools, state, and beyond. |
| |
4. Extend participation in the summer institute to school leaders throughout the state of Alabama and elsewhere. |

The Educational Leadership Summer Institute, coordinated by the Truman Pierce Institute in the AU College of Education, will be open to administrators/teachers from all K-12 programs in the state of Alabama and beyond.
This institute, which is offered in conjunction with Auburn University’s redesigned, state-approved K-12 Master's Instructional Leadership Preparation Program (ILP), has been designed to introduce preservice principals to essential learnings about the skills and dispositions needed to be an effective principal. This will be acheived through interactions with practicing school leaders who are refreshing their own professional learning.
The Summer Institute provides high quality professional development for current and aspiring educational leaders and teachers. The institute is free to teachers and administrators in the ILP partner school districts as well as to EDLD students and EDLD faculty. There is a minimal charge to cover expenses for others who wish to attend.
Teachers and Administrators that are outside of the ILP partner districts and College of Education Graduate/Undergraduate Students will need to either call us at 334-844-5100 or fax/mail a registration form to register. Click here for registration form.
This year’s Summer Institute also offers a free event on Monday evening from 5:30-7:30. The film, Heart of Stone, will be viewed after being introduced by the producer. Opportunities for discussion about the film will be provided following the viewing. This evening event is open to the general public. Parents, community and business leaders, school board members, students, and educators are encouraged to attend and participate.
