Includes highlighted regional population, growth, migration, and key demographic (by age and race/ethnicity) trends and forecasts. Also includes current population snapshot (for previous year, or most recent year for which data is available).

  • Population Trends and Projections (15-year period): Reports growth/contraction in the regional population, broken down by age and race/ethnicity; reported both in absolute terms as well as percentage change. Trends and forecasts are reported in 5-year increments.
  • Location Quotients (LQ) by Age and Race: Both state and national location quotients are reported by age and racial/ethnic populations within the region. Demographic groups with a high LQ are more highly concentrated within the focal region than in the comparison region. This measure indicates how a region's population is demographically unique in comparison to the state/nation as a whole.
  • Educational Attainment: Highest level of education completed is reported and broken down into seven levels: "less than 9th grade", "9th grade to 12th grade", "high school diploma" (or equivalent), "some college", "associate's degree", "bachelor's degree", and "graduate degree or higher". These regional attainment levels are then compared to both the state and nation. Educational attainment information is also presented by gender and race/ethnicity.

Customized regions can be created by zip code/s or county/ies in Alabama.
