Graduate Programs

Degrees Offered

M.Ed. in Music Education programs leading to Class A teaching certification with instrumental or choral emphasis.

  • M.Ed. in Music Education students may complete the degree as little as three semesters (two summers and the intervening spring semester).
  • Distance Learning program available.

Ed.S. in Music Education program. 

Ph.D. in Music Education traditional and alternative residency programs.

Graduate Degree Requirements

After your first semester, you will set your specific plan of study in consultation with your advisory committee.

Master's programs are 30 hours, Ed.S. programs are 30 hours, Ph.D. programs are 80+ hours.

Note: GRE scores are required before applications are considered.

Admissions are for starting the program in Summer Semester. Admission is good for one calendar year.

Doctoral application materials are due by January 5.

Masters and Ed.S. application materials are due by April 1 (but earlier is better as enrollment is limited).s
