Accreditation Information

The B.M.E. program is approved by the Alabama State Department of Education and it is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the National Association of Schools of Music. The program provides certification tracks in N-12 Instrumental, N-12 Vocal, and N-12 Combined Instrumental/Vocal.

The M.Ed. program is approved by the Alabama State Department of Education and it is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the National Association of Schools of Music. The program provides certification tracks in N-12 Instrumental and N-12 Vocal. (General music specialists choose either track, but tailor coursework.) The music education distance program meets the same guidelines for quality as do all Auburn University programs and is accredited by the Alabama State Department of Education, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the National Association of Schools of Music. The residency requirement is attendance at a two-day seminar each summer of enrollment in addition to any initial certification-related coursework that is offered only on campus. Some elective 7000-level courses require meetings during the summer midterm seminar. Students also complete a practicum and an internship.

The music education distance program meets the same guidelines for quality as do all Auburn University programs and is accredited by the Alabama State Department of Education, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the National Association of Schools of Music. The program provides certification tracks in N-12 Instrumental and N-12 Vocal. The Ed.S. program may be completed in three summers. All courses are offered in the distance learning format. The residency requirement is attendance at a two-day seminar each summer of enrollment. Students also complete a field project (typically Fall and Spring) in their own school settings. Some elective courses require meetings during the summer midterm seminar.

The Ph.D. program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the National Association of Schools of Music.
